BFDI is a CARF accredited, licensed, comprehensive human services organization committed to serving all persons, while specializing in evidence-based counseling, treatment, and advocacy for persons of color. Agency programming includes early childhood resources and literacy development, a 3-tiered juvenile justice service array, mental health prevention and treatment, substance use disorder prevention and treatment, boys and young men of color supportive resources, school-based intervention, and trauma-informed care. Our organization is seeking human service professionals in the following areas with the corresponding degree/experience requirements:

Licensed Children’s Mental Health Therapists

Seeking licensed, School – Based Mental Health Therapists. Responsibilities include mental health prevention and treatment service array for students, and parents; as well as mental health education for school personnel and families to increase likelihood of students’ success with school. Therapists will provide Medicaid – billable mental health treatment to youth and families to maximize their coping with mental health symptoms at home and in-school. Clinically licensed School-Based Mental Health Therapists maintain a treatment caseload approximately 25 families, and provide school-wide prevention services.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist student’s with decision-making and problem solving incidents that, if unresolved, will lead to increased risk of school discipline
  • Provide emotional and behavioral support to students
  • Home-based services
  • Implement prevention and intervention techniques to improve students’ academic and behavioral success
  • Provide Restorative Practices to teach conflict resolution techniques to student and school faculty to promote a restorative school culture and decrease in-school conflicts
  • Engage parents and families via in-school and home-based activities that promote their student’s growth and well-being
  • Collaborate with teachers in developing behavior management plans and proactive classroom incentives in order to increase youth’s capacity to effectively learn and grow
  • Consult with, and educate, parents and school faculty regarding student support strategies and psycho-educational challenges.
  • Maintain daily data collection and analysis to determine units of student support provided
  • Provide crisis intervention, as well as mental health/substance use disorder screenings 2 Core Competencies:

Qualifications:

Licensed practitioners with a Master’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or other human service profession required. Treatment staff must complete qualifications for a Qualified Children’s Mental Health Professional; treatment candidates must not be legally prohibited from billing Medicaid; Michigan Credentialing Board of Addiction Professional certifications preferred. All candidates must demonstrate strong computer literacy; strong documentation and oral communication; ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
