Job Title: Behavior Analyst

Position Status: Salaried, Exempt

Salary: $75,000 - $80,000

Reports To: Director of Operations

California Community Opportunities (CCO) is a private, nonprofit San Jose-based agency providing homes and lifelong learning to adults with developmental and physical disabilities. Our CCO homes are located in San Jose, Los Gatos and Cupertino and our main office is located in south San Jose. CCO is hiring an observant and insightful behavior analyst to manage our caseload of adults who live in our CCO homes.

Responsibilities and Duties: The primary responsibility of the Behavior Analyst is to ensure a high quality of life for persons served by participating in the development of internal training programs for CCO staff and providing expertise in applied behavior analysis and positive behavioral support to aid Teachers as they teach skills in activities of daily living to persons served, and assist persons served to reduce maladaptive behaviors and learn appropriate replacement behaviors.

Specific duties include:

  • Ensures well-trained and motivated staff by participating in the training and ongoing development of Family Teaching Couples and by providing support in concert with the Family Teaching Program Manager.
  • Assists In ensuring well-trained human resources agency-wide by participating in the development of training units with other members of the training team, and by serving as an instructor for selected units of training programs.
  • Ensures compliance with various state and federal regulations, agency policy on the reduction of maladaptive behavior and generally accepted principles of behavior analysis and positive behavior supports by coordinating and participating in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings.
  • Develops and revises Individual Support Plans, including developing, reviewing, and approving behavior programs, teaching programs, and participation plans in collaboration with Teachers and other members of the Clinical Team.
  • Supports the preparation and review of Quarterly Reports and attends Quarterly Meetings as needed.
  • Reviews and prepares data for psychiatric appointments and attends psychiatric appointments for persons served as needed.
  • Ensures compliance with various state and federal regulations, agency policy on the reduction of maladaptive behavior and generally accepted principles of behavior analysis and positive behavior supports by preparing and presenting Human Rights Committee justifications for all restrictive interventions.
  • Supports the CommUniversity Day Program by teaching a twice-weekly class.
  • Assists in ongoing Quality Assurance feedback by completing Quality Assurance tasks such as ensuring data is collected in the Therap database as defined in active programs, providing bi-weekly feedback, and monthly home visits for assigned home(s).
  • Periodic, regular, and/or occasional contact with employees, the public and/or vendors with the ability to converse and respond appropriately to inquiries and requests;
  • Participates in the Initiation of Services process as requested by the Director of Operations, including potential referral meet and greets, observations, and transition meetings.

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in applied behavioral science, special education, psychology, human development or a related discipline;
  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) preferred;
  • Two-three years of prior experience in a position of similar scope is preferred;
  • Competency in applied behavioral analysis and or positive behavioral supports; data collection, reduction, and analysis; knowledge of human developmental psychology; and skill in developing and writing behavior reduction and skill acquisition plans;
  • Education and/or training in the areas of supervision and management preferred;
  • Ability to carry a cell phone and be a part of a regular on-call schedule;
  • The ability to effectively communicate through verbal and written mediums;
  • A high energy level, adaptability, assertiveness, patience and ability to work in a team environment;
  • Time management and follow-up skills with ability to plan, organize and prioritize a large workload; and handle several tasks simultaneously within time constraints and under pressure in some situations;
  • Ability to work autonomously;
  • Knowledge of computers, specifically knowledge in Word, Excel and database systems;
  • Standing or sitting for long periods of time is periodically required;
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds unassisted and ability to perform emergency physical interaction techniques (which include lifting, bending, kneeling, stooping, reaching, blocking, grabbing) preferred;
  • Proof of a valid driver’s license, an ability to maintain automobile liability insurance as required by state law in California, and an ability to qualify as a driver under CCO insurance
  • Employment shall be contingent upon the results of fingerprint clearance, a check of applicable abuse and neglect reports developed and monitored by the State of California, the Department of Developmental Disabilities, and Adult Protective Service agencies as specified in Welfare and Institutions Code Section 4689.2.
