ABOUT US

Schaumburg Park District is an award-winning parks and recreation agency that provides its 80,000 residents with a wide variety of recreational programs, classes, and events as well as facilities, parks and open spaces. Our KASPER program (Kids’ After School Program with Enrichment and Recreation) provides before and after school care to over 900 children at the following SD54 schools and sites: Aldrin, Blackwell, Campanelli, Churchill, Collins, Dirksen, Dooley, Enders Salk, Hale, Hoover and Nerge schools, and the Community Recreation Center, Meineke Recreation Center and Sport Center.


POSITION


KASPER Counselor (must be at least 16 years old)

Under the direction of the KASPER Site Coordinator and Assistant Site Coordinator, the Counselor is responsible for creating, organizing, and leading a wide variety of recreational activities.

  • Strong background interacting with school age children. Positive role model.
  • Target hiring rate is $13 per hour, DOQ (depending on qualifications).

KASPER Assistant Site Coordinator (must be at least 19 years old)

Under the supervision of the KASPER Site Coordinator, the Assistant Site Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the KASPER Program.

  • Minimum of a high school diploma and a minimum 2 years’ experience in school age programming.
  • Target hiring rate is $15.50 per hour, DOQ (depending on qualifications).

KASPER Site Coordinator (must be at least 21 years old)

Under the supervision of the KASPER Manager, the Site Coordinator is responsible for the operations of the KASPER Program.

  • Preferably an Associate Degree in Education, Recreation or a related field. Minimum of a high school diploma and a minimum 2 years’ experience in school age programming.
  • Target hiring rate is $17 per hour, DOQ (depending on qualifications).


QUALIFICATIONS, SCHEDULING & PAY

The best applicants will love working with children (some prior experience is a plus!), demonstrate regular and reliable attendance, be self-directed but also work well with others, and present themselves as a good positive role model. Must be available Monday through Friday. These positions start the week of August 8, 2022 and end around May 26, 2023. KASPER has positions for both morning KASPER 7am – 8:30am and afternoon KASPER 3pm – 6pm.
