As a Baylor CNA at Wesbury, you can work two 12-hour shifts on weekends and one 8-hour during during a pay period. That means you work 56 hours per pay and get paid for 80 hours of work! And you get nine days off every pay period!

CNAs start at $13.50/hour

Job Summary:

Providing prompt and efficient care to the residents to meet their physical, mental, emotional and social needs and keeping the resident clean, safe and comfortable under the direction and supervision of a licensed staff member.

All care must be done in a loving and caring manner using compassion and kindness while at the same time trying to maintain their independence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Providing personal hygiene care to resident which may include, complete or partial bath, oral care, combing hair, shaving, clipping finger nails, toileting, provide incontinence care, emptying catheter bag, changing catheter bag over(from night bag to morning bag and vice versa) cleaning catheter bags as per Wesbury protocol, emptying and rinsing out colostomy/illeostomy bags, complete or partial dressing, making bed, changing bed linen and other general care as is necessary or requested.
  • Performs routine or as needed treatment procedures including applying nonprescription creams and powders as directed, changing oxygen and hand held nebulizer tubing as directed or needed, change or give urinals as directed or needed, apply/remove ted hose as directed, put in and remove hearing aid(s) in a careful manner so as not to break them per instruction sheet and test life line as needed or requested.
  • Takes and/or records temperature, pulse, respirations, height, weight, intake and output as O2 saturation with pulse oximeter.
  • Prepares resident for meals, delivers and picks up trays when Make sure all residents make it to meals and have left the dining room after. Makes meal arrangements when on LOA or at appointments.
  • Promptly answers resident call bells, anticipates resident’s needs, assists in or out of bed when needed and makes rounds to residents as and when directed.
  • Assists residents with handling and caring of clothes including laying out clothing for next day, collection of dirty clothes and linen, lay out laundry bag as directed when due and putting away clean clothes as needed.
  • Walk with/transport resident to and or from various areas of facility as needed or
  • Under the direction of the licensed nurse collect urine/stool samples per order, put in proper containers/tubes. depending on test ordered, fill out lab requisition per instruction and transport specimen to lab refrigerator at Grace Health Center.
  • Monitor linen/brief/pad supplies in specified residents rooms daily and refill/reorder as needed and directed on assignment sheet.
  • Filing, monitor form supplies and reorder/make copies per instruction sheet as needed, fill out proper paperwork for doctor appointments for residents per instruction sheet, fill out work orders for issues for maintenance per laundry, grounds instruction sheet. Fill glucometer cases daily with specific items listed on instruction sheet, monitor paper in fax machine and fill as needed, monitor lab supplies and reorder per instruction sheet as needed , monitor master keys daily and report any missing, monitor hydrauculater daily and fill as needed and set up baskets for assignments as and when directed for upcoming shift.
  • Answer phone promptly and professionally. Providing assistance when needed as directed per instruction sheet.
  • Provide cueing and redirection to residents as needed.
  • Effectively deals with confused or agitated residents.
  • Monitor daily appointment schedule for Remind as needed.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and clean environment by straightening up rooms and using proper technique in all resident care to prevent spread of infection uses gloves and washes hands per Wesbury protocol and wipe down nurses station and break room per instruction sheet.
  • Handling isolation garbage/laundry per Wesbury policy.
  • Report to licensed nurse/med tech and document in report book any abnormal findings of resident.
  • Provides for resident privacy at all times and establish and maintain personal relationships with residents so as to produce
  • Clean and Stock carts for next shift.
  • Monitor for need and coordinate clothing to be marked.
  • Pack and move resident personal belongings when transferring to Grace.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Working Conditions:

Sits stands and walks frequently through out work day. Bend, twist, push and pull frequently exposed to odors, infections and body fluids. Deal with behaviors and reactions of the elderly. Deal with other staff members personalities. Temperatures of residents rooms depending on season

Qualifications Necessary to Perform Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Completion of nurse’s aide or PCA course/training. Experience helpful but not a must. Responsible, desire to work with the elderly who may have dementia or any handicap. In good mental and physical health/must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position including lifting residents, bending, twisting, turning, reaching, stooping, pushing and kneeling etc. able to be on feet long periods of time. Patience, kindness and compassion are a must. Always be pleasant, tactful and courteous when dealing with residents and their family and friends. Same applies to any visitors and co workers. Bad attitudes are not acceptable. Able to multi task using good time management skills. Be a good listener. Always show respect to the residents and co workers. Be attentive to residents. Offer assistance when needed. Act as a resource. Smile often.
