Summary:

The Bar Manager will promote and grow the restaurant’s bar business, hire and train waitstaff, and ensure that patrons are receiving excellent drinks, food, and service. You will also manage inventory and resources, plan promotional events, ensure that quality and safety controls are followed, maintain current licenses and update vendor contracts, create schedules, and set business objectives to increase profits and maximize customer satisfaction. You should also be able to work with diverse personalities and diffuse tense situations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Manage the business aspects of the bar, such as keeping a current liquor license, negotiating supplier contracts, taking inventory and reordering supplies, analyzing bar waste and providing a process to fix if applicable, managing budgets, and setting goals.

· Hiring and training staff to provide excellent service to patrons.

· Creating effective schedules and quickly resolving conflicts to ensure that bar is well-staffed during peak hours.

· Setting and enforcing quality and safety controls.

· Ensuring licenses are updated and in line with current legislation.

· Working with diverse personalities of both the staff and patrons.

· Planning and taking part in promotional events.

· Diffusing tense situations between patrons or staff members to prevent possible safety or legal issues, ejecting unruly persons, if needed.

· Respond to complaints, taking any and all appropriate actions to turn dissatisfied guests into return guests.

· Maintain a fun, safe atmosphere for patrons and employees.

· Oversee and manage all service aspects of the restaurant

· Adhere to company standards and service levels to increase sales and minimize costs, including food, beverage, supply, utility, and labor

· Responsible for ensuring that all financial (invoices, reporting) and administrative duties are completed accurately, on time, and in accordance with company policies and procedures.

· Enforce sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness, and maintenance of the kitchen, and dining areas. Ensure compliance with operational standards, company policies, federal/state/local laws, and ordinances.

· Responsible for ensuring consistent high-quality food preparation and service.

· Maintain a professional restaurant image, including restaurant cleanliness, proper uniforms, and appearance standards.

· Supervise portion control and quantities of preparation to minimize waste.

· Must be ServSafe certified.

· Will uphold all ServSafe guidelines.

· Completes accident reports promptly if a guest or employee is injured.

· Provide direction to employees regarding operational and procedural issues.

· Conduct orientation to explain the Old Chicago Philosophy and oversee the training of new employees.

· Develop employees by providing ongoing feedback, establishing performance expectations, and by conducting performance reviews.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

· Maintain an accurate and up-to-date plan of restaurant staffing needs. Prepare schedules and ensure that the restaurant is staffed for all shifts.

· Self-discipline, initiative, leadership ability, and outgoing personality

· Pleasant, polite manner and a neat and clean appearance

· Ability to motivate employees to work as a team to ensure that food and service meet appropriate standards.

· Must be able to handle the pressures of simultaneously coordinating a wide range of activities and recommend appropriate solutions to restaurant problems.

· Must possess good communication skills for dealing with diverse staff.

· Ability to coordinate multiple tasks such as food, beverage, and labor cost, while maintaining required standards of operation in daily restaurant activities.

· Ability to determine the applicability of experience and qualifications of job applicants.

· Must be able to work well in a loud environment in order to meet guest expectations

· Must be able to walk and stand during the entire shift

· Must be able to reach, bend, stoop and wipe

· Must be able to carry/lift between10-30 lbs.
