Title: Banquet Captain
Department: Food and Beverage

Reports To: Food and Beverage Manager
Direct Subordinates: Banquet Bartenders, Banquet Servers, Banquet Housepersons
Scope
Supervises all banquet activities, including set up banquet space and service of food and
beverages, to ensure that groups using the hotel’s banquet facilities are completely
satisfied.
Primary Responsibilities
Supervises set up and service staff to ensure timely and accurate room set up and food
and beverage service according to client specifications.
Greet guests upon arrival; resolves guest complaints and answers question to customers
satisfaction; reviews guest check with client after function and obtains signature.
Works with Food and Beverage Manager to hires banquet staff as needed to maintain
adequate staffing levels for department; Coaches and counsels employees regarding
career and personal development; conducts performance evaluation and provides
feedback to employees.
Works with Food and Beverage Manager to train banquet staff in proper set up, serving
and clean up procedures.
Works with Food and Beverage Manager to prepares schedules and assigns duties to
banquet staff.
Maintains adequate inventory supply levels to meet projected needs; requisitions
additional supplies as needed; cleans and stores all equipment in a secure manner.
Communicates with maintenance department regarding banquet equipment repair or
safety issues.
Relationships
Internal: Maintenance Department: to request repairs to equipment
All Hotel Departments: to coordinate client needs for service
External: Function Group Leaders: to determine needs and provide service
Qualifications
Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent and three years experience in banquet or food and beverage service with on year in a supervisory capacity.
Certification: None
Skills: Customer service orientation
Organizational ability
Attention to detail
Communication skills

***Although some duties are supervisory, the position is paid on an hourly basis, and therefore, employee must clock in and out when performing any work at the hotel. Work from home is not permitted, and all overtime must be approved by the General Manager prior to working the overtime. Absolutely no working off-the-clock.
