A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A BACKEND WEB DEVELOPER

As a Backend Web Developer, you have the crucial responsibility of developing and testing public-facing websites. A go-getter, you come to work each day ready to tackle a variety of software development tasks. At times, you work on your own, performing such tasks as ensuring that a website's CMS plug-ins and applications meet proper HTML semantics. Other times, you work in partnership with team members to develop information architecture and site mapping. You also create CMS templates and meet with website content managers to develop and implement content for various web pages.

Your experience with a variety of programming languages often comes in handy. You use HTML, CSS, JavaScript, XML, and XSLT to develop, test, debug, and publish web pages, such as employee directories, search features, and calendars. In addition, you work on deploying special projects such as college marketing campaigns. At all times, you keep current on the latest technologies and trends to stay on top of your software development game. QUALIFICATIONS FOR A BACKEND WEB DEVELOPER

  • Strong understanding of programming languages such as HTML, JavaScript, CSS, XML, SQL, and Bootstrap Framework v4 and above
  • Knowledge of web hosting, DNS, IIS, and networks
  • Experience with .NET and iOS operating systems
  • Knowledge of website architecture, site mapping standards, web technologies, and internet protocols
  • Familiarity with SSL protocol
