Location: Leavenworth, Kansas
Salary: $80,000.00 - $98,000.00 annually
(Starting salary depends on education and experience)

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Attorney will support staff across Kansas Child Welfare programs and services in pursuit of the organization’s mission of safer and healthier communities. The Attorney will work collaboratively with other leaders across various departments and programs within the organization to ensure e positive interface in support of the organization’s mission and priorities, specifically in guiding work as it relates to legal responsibilities in working to achieve permanency for children and families served through the foster care, reintegration, and adoption grant. The Attorney will be responsible for positive community collaboration to develop/maintain community partnerships on behalf of Cornerstones of Care. Knowledge of Kansas state statutes, CINC and Juvenile law including ICWA, FFPSA, CSFR, ASFA, DCF/PPM, Title IV-E, Best Interest of the Child legal standard, HIPPA, QRTP/PRTF, Adoption, Paternity Venue. Knowledge of child welfare industry (social worker) standards of best practice. Knowledge of the content and requirements of our grant, and the Appleseed lawsuit settlement requirements. Knowledge of state & community needs and systems as it pertains to benefit-eligible health & education. Knowledge of local, state, and federal-level government and political operations in multiple geographic areas. Knowledge of governmental and accreditation standards in delivering health & human services such as COA.

QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires an Advanced/Master’s degree as Juris Doctorate in KS with 3-5 years of experience providing legal services within the child welfare system. Must pass background check, physical and drug screening. This position also requires a valid driver’s license and proof of current vehicle insurance.
