Job Description
Reporting to the Vice President for Advancement, the Associate Vice President for Advancement provides strategic leadership, direction, and management for the Advancement Unit. The Associate Vice President for Advancement is a key member of the leadership team and an active participant in making strategic decisions affecting unit management, gift processes, stewardship, and fundraising for University Advancement. The Associate Vice President is also responsible for strategic initiatives tied to new engagement strategies and fundraising opportunities. The position will directly oversee seven major gift development officers.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. (conferred on an official transcript at the time of application.)
- Minimum five (5) year’s direct experience in higher education fundraising.
Demonstrated progressively successful major gift fundraising in higher education
Proven understanding of the role private support plays in public higher education.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
- Advanced degree or CFRE.
Must be creative and effective leader.
Demonstrated understanding of strategic planning, program implementation, personnel management, and accountability metrics connected to fundraising.
Comprehensive or capital campaign fundraising or management experience.
Ability to work independently and as a part of a collaborative team.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced office environment.
Other Requirements
Work safely at all times, which includes but is not limited to, participating and completing all required safety trainings, as well as performing all job tasks in accordance with Minnesota State University, Mankato policies and procedures utilizing appropriate tools, equipment and personal protective equipment.
