The Associate, Training & Learning, Girl Up will advance the design and the successful implementation of STEM for Social Good programming, Climate Change, and Sports for a Purpose programming with oversight. The Associate, Programs & Impact works closely with public and private sector partners and represents Girl Up in those spaces.
The Associate, Training & Learning, Girl Up is a member of the Training & Learning stream within the Girl Up Program Team and will report to the Manager, Training & Learning, Girl Up. The Associate, Training & Learning, Girl Up will collaborate across Girl Up's other departments, including Development, Communications and Global Operations.

This position is based in Washington, DC or U.S. remote.

Essential Functions

  • Support the Girl Up STEM for Social Good, Sports for a Purpose, and Climate Change issue area programming, strategy, programmatic partners, and events with oversight
  • Develop materials for train-the-trainer style programming and input STEM training materials into a virtual Learning Management System (LMS) with oversight
  • Create learning resources to inspire youth to take action to combat Climate Change and other environmental challenges with guidance
  • Support Manager, Training & Learning on key aspects of planning, implementation, and partner engagement for WiSci camps
  • Support planning, implementation, and partner engagement for Sports programming and camps with oversight
  • Coordinate adult and youth recruitment, speaker engagement, execute budget, and logistics for Sports, STEM, or Climate Change related one day Bootcamps or events with oversight.
  • Train and support global team members to execute Sports, STEM, or Climate Change one day Bootcamps or events.
  • Coordinate collection and management of metrics and draft content for Sports and STEM related partner proposals and reporting, liaising closely with the Development team and leading working group meetings.
  • Contribute to Girl Up’s action plan to promote and implement diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) within the workplace and across programming
  • Support with planning and implementating internal events, including but not limited to the annual Leadership Summit, including speaker recruitment, engagement, and event logistics
  • Coordinate and contribute to internal working groups and committees
  • Work closely with all members of programs, communications, development, and leadership teams to ensure cohesion of organizational efforts and internal awareness
  • Other duties as assigned.

Selection Criteria

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 1-3 years work experience in youth engagement and/or organizing required; additional experience with event management and/or international youth programs preferred
  • Commitment to Girl Up’s Core Values
  • Acute eye for detail and superb organizational skills
  • Strong customer service experience – via written, phone, and in-person
  • Experience in supporting multiple projects concurrently and balancing completing deadlines and tasks
  • Strong commitment to multicultural experiences and girls’ issues
  • Demonstrated interest in girls’ access to STEM; background in STEM fields preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills to engage a wide range of individuals, including female youth supporters, business professionals, and partners
  • Strong skills working in teams and across many types of organizational structure – collaborator; problem solver; relationship-builder; and strong inter-personal skills
  • Commitment to fostering an anti-racist and inclusive workplace
  • Experience working with diverse and multi-cultural populations preferred
  • Stress tolerance, resilience and ability to handle multiple and shifting priorities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of relationship management systems like Salesforce preferred
  • Experience with basic data analysis preferred
  • Self-starter with both energy and creativity
  • Dependability, openness, and flexibility
  • Working fluency in a second language such as Spanish, French, or Arabic, preferred
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally (up to 40%)
  • Ability to meet regular attendance/tardiness policy
