BNSF is seeking a Software Engineer to assist in the development and implementation of solutions aimed at improving safety and efficiency in the railroad engineering environment.
We are looking for a passionate individual interested in contributing to the railroad of the future. The ideal candidate should be a problem solver, a self-starter, and an effective communicator who enjoys learning new technologies. This role will drive development efforts and deliver solutions that support the maintenance of our railroad network.
GENERAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
As part of the BNSF Engineering vision,
- Provide technology innovation and support on safety, reliability, and availability of physical infrastructure to improve and maintain the industry leadership.
- Develop and support Technology tools to Inspect, construct, maintain and repair BNSF's track, signals and train control systems, bridges, tunnels and other structures along the right-of-way
As part of the part of the BNSF TS Engineering vision,
- Support the Automated Track Inspection for FRA waiver territory compliance and roll outs
- Support Track Health Optical Recognition/Geo/Rail Car findings and Timekeeping / S4Hana multiyear initiatives
- Support efforts to integrate the latest edge and cloud capabilities as BNSF equips track maintenance equipment with advanced sensors, robotics, and communication systems
- Drive efforts to overcome challenges with handling massive amounts of data on the edge and delivering that data to cloud environments
- Provide technical leadership in the implementation of solutions that meet technical and business requirements
- Demonstrate a passion for solving customer issues, automating manual processes, and making an impact
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or Business, AND/OR equivalent relevant formal training, certifications, or work experience
- Hands-on experience with SAP PM module
- At least 2+ years of relevant work experience
- Ability to analyze business requirements and architect/estimate solutions at various scales, a thorough understanding of Software Design principle, implementation, and support
- Ability to adhere to BNSF security conventions pertaining to architecture, code, and data
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with SAP PM defect finding, testing, and implementing
- Experience working with external consultants and suppliers of products
- Experience with Agile development
