Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Software Engineer to support the SNAP Department (Strategic Networks, Applications, and Products). Our team focuses on Network Solutions, and supports a variety of technologies across our three departments; C3 Solutions, Strategic Networks, and Small Form Factors. C3 Solutions, specializes in Tactical Data Link processors, emulators, and simulators. Our Strategic Networks team builds solutions to defending our country's nuclear assets. And lastly, our Small Form Factors Department brings SWaP optimized solutions (Crypto, SDRs, Space Networks) to new domains, bridging us into Space , Weapons, and more. This position will be located in the beautiful city of San Diego, CA, at one of our two locations; Rancho Carmel, or Kearny Mesa.

This position will require onsite work however for this role we are able to offer flexible work arrangements and some remote work will be possible.

This position may be filled as a Software Engineer or Principal Software Engineer.

Basic Qualifications Software Engineer:

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in science, engineering, or related discipline with 0 years experience; an additional 4 years of relevant experience/education can be considered in lieu of a Bachelors Degree.

  • Object oriented programming and development: C++, C
  • Experience working in a Linux Development Environment
  • Clearance: Candidate must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain an active U.S. Government DOD Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiar with Atlassian Tool Suite tools such as GIT, JIRA, BitBucket
  • Familiar with additional programming languages: Java, python, JavaScript
  • Familiar with CI/CD Pipelines Tools: Jenkins, SonarCube, Fortify
  • Familiar with Ansible Scripting
  • Agile development experience
  • Device I/O experience.

Salary Range: $70,200 USD - $105,400 USD


Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
