The Assistant Teacher provides essential logistical support to L’Etoile students and staff. They supervise students from preschool to grade 5. They work closely with the lead teachers and administrative staff to support the goals of the school.
We are looking for Assistant Teachers who like to work with children and to partner with members of our school community to create a safe, nurturing, and structured environment for our students.
Responsibilities:
Supervise students and assist teachers in the classroom
Cover teacher breaks including lunchtime and recess
Engage students in structured activities as needed for recess and aftercare
Inform the Head of School or Pedagogical Director of disciplinary situations involving students
Ensure students follow all health and safety guidelines, including mask-wearing and social distancing
Assume the role of the teacher in his/her absence
Communicate regularly with lead teachers and administrators
Attend orientations, staff meetings, and training sessions as assigned
Other related duties as needed
Qualifications: The ideal candidate:
Is a flexible, organized, and independent team player
Has strong interpersonal skills
Has prior experience working in a school environment or with children
Is fluent in English, with knowledge and understanding of the French language and culture a plus
Is willing to learn and implement positive behavioral management techniques
Is dependable and on-time
Has basic computer skills, with use of Google Drive, Docs, and Sheets a plus
A completed High School Diploma or GED

This position requires onsite presence at L’Etoile French Immersion School
Assistant Teacher must obtain and maintain current Office of Childcare certifications including Central Background Registry, Food Handler, CPR/First Aid
