The Assistant Site Manager is a critical member of the Jerri Hoffmann Child & Family Center team, providing supervision and coaching to teachers in our 0-5 classrooms. What you’ll do:

  • Provide training, coaching, and reflective supervision to early childhood classroom teaching staff, including Teachers and Master Teachers.
  • Be an active collaborator on the Early Head Start and Prevention Initiative Program education teams, working closely with other program staff and leaders.
  • Develop relationships with parents and families and encourage their involvement in the Early Head Start and Prevention Initiative education programs.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to classroom staff in the development, writing, and implementation of daily lesson plans and classroom routings and transitions; meet weekly with classroom and other staff to review lesson plans and teaching strategies, and discuss child progress.

Who you are:

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field from an accredited institution with a minimum of 30 hours of Early Childhood Education required.
  • Gateways Early Childhood Education Level 5 Credential and Illinois Director Credential required.
  • Food Sanitation Certification preferred.
  • Experience with the Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) preferred.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience required.
  • You have four (4) years of Early Childhood teaching experience required. Head Start or Early Head Start experience preferred for positions in those programs.
  • You have a warm, encouraging leadership style and are skilled at engaging with staff and building and supporting high-performing teams.
  • You are attentive to detail, organized, and self-motivated.
  • You enjoy working collaboratively with a team to reach shared goals.

The details:

  • Location: Work is conducted at the Jerri Hoffmann Child & Family Center (229 Lake Marion Road, Carpentersville, IL 60110).
  • Schedule: Full-time, salaried; center hours are 7:30a-5:30p M-F; the Assistant Site Manager is responsible for closing the center on a daily basis.
  • Staff are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and to submit proof of their vaccination status before their start date unless they have an agency approved medical or religious exemption.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: Range starts at $57,000, offers are commensurate with experience; English/Spanish bilingual candidates may receive additional compensation for some positions.

  • Winter Break: The agency is closed between Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. This paid break allows staff to spend time with their families around the holidays without using their accrued time off balances.
  • Student Loan Forgiveness: Children's Home & Aid is an approved agency for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF).
