ESSENTIAL DUTIES, FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervises and directs day-to-day work activities, provides guidance and direction to the radiology department, temporary, intermittent staff, radiology/biomedical equipment technicians and contractors.
  • Assists the manager in planning and adjusting work schedules and operations to meet established goals, priorities, deadlines and standards of care.
  • Assists the manager in monitoring the operation and productivity of medical imaging services. Communicates team assignments, projects, problems to be solved, actionable, events, milestones, and/or program issues under review and deadlines and time limits for completion.
  • Identifies, distributes and balances department workload and tasks among employees following established workflow, skill level and/or occupational specialization adjusting to carry out the workload following established priorities to ensure timely accomplishment of assigned team tasks.
  • Assesses team strengths and weaknesses and provide leadership to the team in exploring alternatives and determining improvements that can be made (e.g., work methods, processes and procedures).
  • Advises/coaches' staff in patient care, the selection and application of proper problem solving methods and techniques, provide advice on work methods, practices and procedures, work organization, and assist the team and/or individual members in identifying the parameters of a workable solution.
  • Ensures patient admissions and/or transfers are executed promptly to assure continuity of patient care and efficiency of admission or transfer process.
  • Accountable to monitor all aspects of patient care such as: proper documentation of general radiography, monitors radiological procedures and techniques process to ensure compliance with established procedures.
  • Reports to the Radiology Manager with the identification for specific administrative or technical education and training necessary for the accomplishment of individual team member needs or team needs.
  • Prepares, monitors and reports on the status and progress of work, checking on work in progress and reviewing completed work to see that the Radiology Manager’s instructions on work priorities, methods, deadlines and quality are met.
  • Monitors, reports and manages unexpected leave including sick leave and other employee absences following hospital policy.
  • Resolve simple, informal complaints from employees and refer other complaints which require formal action to the Radiology Manager.
  • Review with the Radiology Manager Performance management issues/problems and to recommend/request related actions, such as: assignments, reassignments, promotions, tours of duty change, peer reviews, monthly rounding of staff, annual performance reviews, individual awards, rewards and recognition.
  • Assists the Radiology Manager with conveying Performance Improvement and Quality Assurance projects to the team and reports to the Radiology Manager departmental performance and measures.
  • Provides direction through daily huddles, staff and patient rounding, incident reports, direct observation and surveys.
  • Ensures compliance with hospital wide QAPI (Quality Assessment/Performance Improvement) Program, CMS’ (Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services) CoPs (Conditions of Participation), maintain ACR (American College of Radiology) accreditation, and standards of care.
  • Ensures professional collaboration with other departments for developing a multidisciplinary approach to care provision.
  • Provides a professional caring attitude with patients, their families, hospital health care providers and other departments.
  • Ensures consistent, positive support for workplace civility, allowing no behavior that could be interpreted as creating or supporting a hostile work environment.
  • Collaborates with the Radiology Manager to develop orientation processes, onboarding, training, annual staff CE requirements, and development of staff.
  • Completes all yearly Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) required training by due dates.
  • Assists, promotes, and supports compliance with established CMS standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:

  • Four (4) years of direct work experience in medical imaging.

Education:

  • AAS (Associate of Applied Science) Degree in Radiologic Technology from an ARRT accredited degree program.

License:

  • Active, unrestricted ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification and must maintain credentials.
