Duties and Responsibilities
The Department of History and Government invites applications for an Assistant (tenure-track) position in European History. We seek candidates who are qualified to teach courses in western and eastern European history and welcome applicants teaching from a multi-cultural perspective. Successful candidate will begin teaching in August 2023.
The successful applicant will teach several specialized courses including The History of Britain, The French Revolution and Napoleon, Twentieth Century Europe, as well as courses in World Civilization. The successful candidate is expected to have research accomplishments and a Ph.D. in the discipline of history, at the time the job offer is made. Teaching experience at the university undergraduate level and experience in virtual instruction is preferred.
Responsibilities include teaching twelve (12) undergraduate hours (4 courses) per semester; engages in multiple service related activities such as student mentoring and service at the departmental, school, college, professional, and community levels; and actively engages in scholarly or creative activities.

Conditions of Employment
Offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion of due diligence background check and verification of credentials. Proof of US citizenship or eligibility for U.S. employment will be required prior to employment (Immigration Control Act of 1986).

Experience
Teaching experience at the university undergraduate level and experience in virtual instruction is preferred. Experience teaching in a diverse environment recommended.

Education
Ph.D. in History with a specialization in European history.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Applicants should be strongly committed to excellence in teaching and student mentoring. Preference will be given to candidates with evidence of teaching effectiveness at the undergraduate level, evidence of academic scholarship and research, ability/potential to publish in peer-reviewed academic journals, the potential for securing external grants, and evidence of building community partnerships.
