General Description
The University of Montevallo (UM) invites nominations and applications for a full-time, tenure-track assistant professor faculty position in finance, beginning in August 2023. A Ph.D. or DBA in finance from an AACSB International accredited institution is required but ABD status doctoral candidates will be considered.
Candidates who possess finance experience or hold certifications in the field will be given special consideration. Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and MBA levels. The desired candidate will have experience in teaching courses in financial analytics, financial technology, and general finance. The successful candidate will be a dedicated teacher; active scholar; and effective mentor for students with diverse backgrounds, preparation, and career goals.
Essential Job Duties
Prepare course materials, such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts. Prepare and deliver lectures to undergraduate or graduate students on financial topics. Evaluate and grade students’ class work, assignments, and papers. Plan, evaluate, and revise curricula, course content, and course materials and methods of instruction. Maintain regularly scheduled office hours to advise and assist students. Keep abreast of developments in the field by reading current literature, talking with colleagues, and participating in professional organizations and conferences. Participate in campus and community events.
