The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition, at the University of Virginia seeks candidates for a tenure-ineligible or tenure-eligible Assistant Professor faculty position. Tenure status and compensation are contingent upon qualifications. Candidates must have an MD, DO, or equivalent degree, be board-eligible or board-certified and have completed a fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology, and nutrition. Candidates in their final year of fellowship are also eligible and encouraged to apply. Successful candidates must have demonstrated experience with the practice and teaching of clinical pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology, nutrition, and liver transplant.

The Department of Pediatrics is an extremely collegial and collaborative department with an outstanding residency training program. The Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition has excellent collaborative working relationships with general pediatricians and family physicians in the community as well as with other pediatric subspecialists, pediatric surgeons, and colleagues in adult medicine. The Division is comprised of eleven faculty and three nurse practitioners in addition to full-time nursing, nutrition, social work, and psychology support. We have an ACGME-accredited Pediatric Gastroenterology Fellowship accepting one fellow each year. In addition, we have a growing portfolio of clinical, translational, and basic research funded by the National Institutes of Health, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Chan-Zuckerberg Initiative, and the University of Virginia Trans-University Microbiome Initiative.

The University of Virginia Medical Center and Children's Hospital are amidst the main university grounds of the University of Virginia. The University of Virginia is annually ranked as one of the premier public universities in the United States and is located in Charlottesville. Charlottesville is a very picturesque small, but cosmopolitan city that is in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
