The position of Assistant Principal at Alpha is a position of leadership in an Alternative Education program. The purpose of Alternative Education is to create a non-traditional school for those who would not normally graduate in a 4 year track.

The number 1 goal is to prevent high school dropouts. Alpha is unique because students can apply to attend from any school district. Alpha serves the Santa Fe South High School's placement needs first. All 14 state standards for alt ed are addressed at Alpha.

The total number of students is 130.

The program currently has 3 sessions.

AM session is from 7:45-12:00 (50 students)

PM session is 12:00-4:15 (50 students)

Night School is 4:30-8:00pm (30 students)

Students may graduate from Alpha or use Alpha for credit recovery to return to a high school.

Alpha's curriculum is derived from Edmentum, a fully accredited high school and middle school curriculum in Oklahoma.
