About This Role:

The Department of Business in the College of Business at Lamar University seeks candidates for a faculty position in the area of Economics (ECON). Applicant will be considered for a nine-month tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor depending upon qualifications. The position is available beginning in March 2023 and will be open until filled. Salary is negotiable on qualifications and experience.

Position Responsibilities:

Teach students (both graduate and undergraduate) face-to-face in classroom and online. Stay current of new developments in the field of Economics. Display leadership and participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of college and departmental programs. Participation in department, college and university committees, and other activities associated with professional status, and performing duties essential to the college and university mission as required. Perform related duties essential to the university teaching profession. Publication in academic journals and attendance at conferences are required.

Minimum Qualifications (Education & Experience)
Minimum Qualifications
  • Qualified candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Economics from an AACSB accredited institution. Prior teaching experiences is desirable.
  • Experience in curricula revision, development of new courses will be given a priority.


Key Competencies:
  • Ability to teach a variety of Economics courses such as Principles of Economics (Micro and Macro), Managerial Economics, and Money and Banking is required.
  • Ability to teach Healthcare Economics, International Trade, Quantitative Methods, and/or Econometrics is a plus.
  • Ability to teach in cross functional disciplines, such as Research Methods, Statistics, Quantitative Methods, and Finance is preferred.
  • Applicants must also demonstrate excellence in research or research potential as indicated by quality refereed publications, and display leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of college and departmental programs.
