8 Hours per day; 6:30am to 2:30pm.

JOB SUMMARY: Perform a variety of duties related to the day to day preparation of school food service to students and adults. Perform any other duties as assigned by the manager.

QUALIFACATIONS:
Required:
1. Possess or ability to become food safety certified within 45 working days from hire. Having passed and maintained with 85% passing score or better.

2. Have the ability to perform vigorous physical work and lift up to 35 lbs.

3. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, school staff and students.

4. Cash handling and/or register experience or willingness to learn

5. Ability to be flexible.

6. Ability to pass assistant manager test.

DESIRABLE:
1. Have experience in institutional, restaurant or school kitchen environment.

2. Have some knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices

3. Have some knowledge of food borne diseases

4. Ability to determine the size of servings and learn necessary requirements to determine a reimbursable meal.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
This position may change or evolve in the future and is not limited to the functions listed. Excellent employee attendance is critical to perform the essential functions.

1. Be involved in the preparation and serving of food daily in the cafeteria, to include outside serving carts in accordance with USDA recipes and guidelines.

2. Operate various types of commercial kitchen equipment such as mixers, slicers, choppers, steamtables, ovens, etc., as needed

3. Wash dishes, pots and pans, equipment, kitchen utensils, and work area cleanup.

4. Set-up and cleanup serving lines, food bars etc. This is a full-time benefitted cafeteria position

5. Excellent customer service.

6. Must learn Point of Sale cashiering system

7. Conform to District, Food Service and Health Department policies.

8. Learn all aspects of the kitchen including ordering food, doing inventory, filling in production sheets and doing day end work

9. Take lead in managers absence

10. Will perform any other duties as assigned by manager.

11. Required to attend any job-related training or meetings as requested by the Food Service Director.
