The Assistant Director of Multicultural Development is a 12-month position which serves as a member of the Office for Inclusive Excellence in the division of Student Affairs. Reporting to the Director of the Office for Inclusive Excellence, the incumbent provides leadership and direction for diversity and inclusion as it pertains to campus-wide activities and programs. Central to the mission of the office is the focus on student success both inside and outside of the classroom. As such, the incumbent will work closely with academic and student affairs staff to assist in the support and development of sound academic and personal growth experiences for students. In addition, the incumbent will incorporate learning outcomes as the conceptual framework for the development of programs and initiatives to help students achieve greater cultural and global competencies. Additional responsibilities include developing and implementing collaborative efforts between the Office for Inclusive Excellence and various campus partners with an emphasis on student leadership, supporting strategic enrollment efforts and working as an effective member of a team.

Manage all programs and activities related to Multicultural Development including program development, web resources, recruitment, information sessions, orientation sessions, student recognitions, and assessment of such programs.
Further develop and oversee the Black Male Initiative Program to increase engagement of students, faculty, and staff as well as maintain and expand collaborations with local high schools associated with the program.

Oversee and expand Diversity Dialogues, a student led program designed to foster conversations around an array of topics that impact students.
Manage the day to day activities of the Veteran’s Center, provide support for student veterans and military affiliated students through programming and collaboration with campus and community partners, and serve on the President’s Commission for Veterans and Military Affairs.
Serve as the advisor for the student organization, Black Action Society.

Supervise graduate assistants and student employees.
Collaborate with campus partners to support and execute programming that celebrate various heritage months.
Manage delivery of comprehensive services that create opportunities for social connection and utilization of campus resources with a focus on retention and graduation of all students, primarily students of color.
Provide presentations and training sessions for students.
Provide advocacy for students and serve as a liaison with faculty and staff.

Maintain records in compliance with departmental requirements and university standards of confidentiality.
Collect, maintain and compile data for department, university and PASSHE reports.

Collaborate with campus partners on programmatic and developmental initiatives and committees, such as the President’s Commission for Race and Ethnic Diversity, Green and White Scholarship, and Admissions initiatives, that encourage and foster diversity, equity, and inclusion of varying populations.
Maintain budget per university guidelines with the approval of the Director of the Office for Inclusive Excellence.

Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in Student Affairs or related field received by May 31, 2023.
Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Successful performance in an on-campus interview and presentation.

Preferred Qualifications
Graduate and/or professional experience working in a higher education environment and/or with multicultural student populations.

Experience working with student organizations supporting students of color.

Knowledge and experience with recruitment and retention of African American males in higher education.

Demonstrated knowledge of issues facing students in historically underrepresented populations and demonstrated multicultural competency skills.

Posses the communication skills and cross-cultural abilities to maximize their effectiveness with diverse groups of students, colleagues, and community members.
