The UW Tacoma Office of Admissions is seeking an individual to join our team as an Assistant Director of First Year Recruitment. In addition to supporting university enrollment efforts by representing the University of Washington Tacoma to prospective students, families, and educational partners, the assistant director will develop a recruitment plan to encourage applications and enrollments from first year students. The assistant director will lead a team of two admission counselors in the execution of the recruitment plan to grow first year enrollment.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
    Annual Recruitment Planning (30%)
  • Using a data driven approach, develop an annual recruitment plan to grow inquiries, secure applications and yield enrollment from first-year students
  • Implement recruiting strategies for all first-year students with an intentional focus on reaching students who are traditionally underrepresented in higher education
  • Serve as a liaison to enrollment planning committees and work groups
  • Provide leadership in meeting or exceeding established enrollment targets

    Supervision and Team Building (30%)
  • Responsible for the hiring, onboarding, training, and supervision of admission counselors to achieve desired goals
  • Successfully lead staff through change and growth
  • Review enrollment data relative to staff performance and adjust staff responsibilities and projects to meet enrollment goals
  • Utilize appropriate data and reports to manage workloads and evaluate performance

    Counseling and Outreach (30%)
  • Generate applications and enrollments through the cultivation of relationships within an assigned territory to meet established goals
  • Counsel prospective undergraduate students about the educational opportunities available at the University of Washington Tacoma and the admissions process; deploy a personalized approach to ensure high conversion/yield rates
  • Participate in on-campus recruitment events such as preview days, open house events, and daily tours
  • Engage in ongoing strategic communications to include phone calls, text messaging, email, and other media to ensure high conversion/yield rates
  • Maintain ongoing, thorough knowledge of academic, co-curricular, and financial aid programs to provide comprehensive and factual information that will allow prospective students to make informed decision about their education
  • Work closely with campus stakeholders to execute strategies to meet enrollment goals and make referrals to appropriate student support services and resources

    CRM Recruitment Support (10%)
  • Ensure the CRM system (Slate) is used consistently and accurately by team members
  • Look for opportunities to enhance and expand the use of the CRM to help counselors build relationships, support enrollment goals and priorities
  • Design a CRM training plan and documentation

    Other Duties
  • Assist with the daily operations of the Office of Admissions including answering phones and responding to email and chat inquiries
  • Assist with the review of undergraduate admissions applications

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Marketing, Business, Education, or a related field
  • 2-3 years experience working in higher education admissions, as a campus tour guide, as a peer advisor or related professional experience

    Additional Qualifications
  • Must be people-oriented and enjoy working with high school and college students as well as parents and guidance counselors
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Confidence in speaking publicly to diverse audiences of varying size
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with diverse populations
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, use multiple systems, and effectively transition between tasks
  • Familiarity with analyzing and interpreting data
  • Functional knowledge and comfort with the use of the Google suite, Microsoft Office, and database software tools

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master’s degree
  • Experience supervising professionals and/or advising student-run organizations
  • Experience working with diverse young adult and youth populations
  • Speak, write, and read in a language other than English with the interest in utilizing language skills to assist prospective students and families
  • Experience using a CRM, specifically Technolutions Slate
  • Experience supervising diverse teams in a fast-paced environment
