The Assistant Director of Human Resources (HR) Applications will lead the strategy, planning, development, release, and operations of Boston University's HR application services. The Assistant Director of HR Applications will lead the team delivering Personnel Administration (PA), Organizational Management (OM), Benefits (BE), Time (TM), and Payroll (PY) systems capabilities to the university. This role will have experience in Human Resource policies along with SAP Technologies and best practices, including, but not limited to, SAP ERP, Business Suite on HANA, ESS/MSS, and SAP Fiori. The Assistant Director of HR Applications is a management role that will build, manage, and mentor a high performing team; participate in the definition and evolution of the University's HR Applications strategy, architecture, development, configuration, and release processes; ensure the delivery of applications and components in support of critical university initiatives; and lead the operations of HR application services.


Required Skills
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or another related field. Master's Degree highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of direct experience and 3+ years of management experience.
  • Advanced analytical, computer/technical and project/process management skills.
  • Experience establishing departmental or service strategy, priorities, goals, and plans.
  • Experience providing immediate supervision over a group or team with multiple managers, senior-level employees, and subordinates.
  • Experience making decisions with broad departmental, organizational or enterprise impacts.
  • Experience with SAP HCM and other SAP Tools and Technologies.
  • Understanding of project management concepts and frameworks such as waterfall, Prince 2, Scrum.
  • Experience and/or certification in ITIL service management practices is desirable.
  • Experience working on multiple, complex projects as a project leader and a subject matter expert.
  • Highly process-oriented, with proven success in solving business challenges through the design and implementation of process.
  • Experience coaching and mentoring junior technical staff
  • Advanced oral and written communications skills.
  • Collaborative and supportive approach to working with numerous and diverse groups of people.
  • Deadline driven with little oversight.
