Community Options, Inc. is a national non-profit agency providing services to individuals with disabilities in 11 states.

We Now Hiring an Assistant Controller to join our Fiscal team in Newtown, PA. This person will be working with the Controller to oversee all financial aspects of the company, including recommending policies and implementing procedures of the department. The Assistant Controller provides financial information that will assist management in making educated decisions about the organization’s future. The assistant controller will be based out of our Newton, PA office and will occasionally be expected to commute to our headquarters in Princeton, NJ.

Responsibilities:

  • Implements and updates accounting policies and procedures.
  • Prepares, reviews and files fiscal reports required by various funding sources.
  • Assist with the month end close.
  • Review of all work and documentation prepared by Sr. and Staff Accountants.
  • Submits accurate and timely financial management reports, including but not limited to internal
    and external quarterly financial statements annual audit, and annual budget reports.
  • Prepares or reviews budgets and oversees budget processes and compliance.
  • Assist with preparation of schedules and reviews all required tax returns including but not limited
    to Form 990, Form 5500, and various state required returns.
  • Performs internal control testing on accounting policies and procedures, and reports findings to
    management.
  • Review and approval of general leger entries, expense reports, and accounts payable.
  • Analyzes revenues and expenses to ensure revenue maximization and cost containment.
  • Trains, supervises, assigns projects to, evaluates, and is responsible for hiring/termination of staff
    to maintain optimum performance as developed by the Controller.
  • Directs, motivates, delegates, and empowers staff in the successful performance of their tasks and
    responsibilities while encouraging innovation.
  • Additional tasks and responsibilities may be assigned

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
  • CPA certification and/or MBA.
  • 5 years related work experience.
  • Commitment to and knowledge of community-based support for persons with disabilities.
  • Extensive knowledge of general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank
    reconciliation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; highly proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form.
  • Ability to prioritize with excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to work with people in a variety of positions.
  • Ability to work independently.
