Assistant Administrator Assisted Living

In the role of Assistant Administrator for Assisted Living at Bishop Gadsden (James Island, SC) you will provide leadership and management of nursing and personal care services in Myers Hall, a community residential care setting. This significant supervisory role will maintain resident care standards, provide supervision, support and management to our care staff while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for nursing and personal care of residents
  • Responsible for residential care compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Direct, coordinate, evaluate and supervise all aspects of resident life
  • Develop meaningful relationships with residents and family members, establishing a trusting and caring atmosphere
  • Conduct daily resident rounds and initiate corrective action when necessary
  • Report health status changes, transfers, incidents or other problems to VP of Health Services and other relevant staff; communicate changes to administrative staff
  • Assess resident care needs and oversee the development of individualized plans of care by the Clinical Supervisor
  • Oversee and participate in resident care conferences on a regular basis, which include residents when appropriate, family members, and other disciplines
  • Ensures excellent customer service delivery and successfully resolve resident grievances
  • Ensure that documentation of resident care and adequate medical records are maintained for each resident
  • Direct and implement training and education for nursing staff
  • Conduct staff meetings regularly with all shifts for purposes of communicating, planning, coordinating, and implementing nursing service and community-wide policies and procedures
  • Assume “on-call” responsibilities during evenings and weekends
  • Plan, develop, implement and monitor departmental budget
  • Ensure availability of equipment and supplies for residential care personnel
  • Interview, hire, and terminate staff as required to ensure adequate nursing and concierge team members to meet residents’ care needs
  • Prepare written employee performance evaluations and initiate recommendations for salary increases, promotions, and terminations
  • Direct and supervise the scheduling and assignment of employees, and comply with the policies and procedures required by Human Resources
  • Assist residents and their families with the facilitation of long-term care insurance policy claims
  • Provide supervision to the Myers Hall Administrative Coordinator and concierge team
  • Assess residents and prospective residents and make recommendations regarding appropriate placement
  • Coordinate new resident admissions with the Admissions Coordinator, attend pre-admit conferences and help residents and families assimilate in the community
  • Promote teamwork and cooperation among staff and with other operational departments

Qualifications

  • Interpersonal skills are necessary for exchanging information as well as maintaining a courteous relationship with the residents, families, visitors and Bishop Gadsden employees
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people of various cultural backgrounds, with sensitivity to cultural differences
  • Must consistently demonstrate responsibility, accountability, and professionalism
  • Ability to read, write, speak and communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and written in English
  • Ability to stand, stoop, bend, reach, and lift (up to 50 pounds /-)

Required Education and Experience

  • Must be a licensed Residential Care Facility Administrator in the state of South Carolina or eligible and willing to become licensed
  • Bachelor's degree or sufficient combination of education and experience
  • Supervisory ability and experience with staffing and scheduling
  • Experience with budgetary planning, implementation and compliance
  • Advanced computer knowledge, Word, Excel, Outlook (ability to work with computer programs as needed)
