Position Summary
The Art Department is seeking a temporary faculty member who can teach two sections of Drawing 1 for Spring of 2023.
Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule
Adjunct Professor is typically assigned as needed on a quarterly basis, with no expectation of continued employment beyond the current appointment.
Quarterly remuneration for 5-credit lecture class is $5,201.03 - $6,340.22 . Compensation is prorated based on type and duration of assignments. Individuals newly hired to Adjunct Professor group at the college are placed at the minimum rate per union bargaining agreement. Certain positions may also be eligible for assignment/project-based additional compensation, including a High Demand Stipend up to $8,350 annually, prorated based on the discipline and duration of the assignment. All additional compensations are subject to change depending on funding and negotiated agreement.
Generous benefits package for eligible employees is offered through Washington State plans that includes multiple medical, dental, life and disability coverage choices for employees and dependents; choices of retirement and deferred compensation plans; paid personal leave plan; transit program, reduced tuition, employee discounts and memberships, etc. Eligible employees are faculty who work a combined load of at least 50% at Bellevue College and other Washington State public institutions of higher education for two consecutive quarters are eligible for health and dental insurance at the start of the second consecutive quarter.
In addition to teaching, faculty maintains office hours and may participate in department and college activities. This position is represented by the Bellevue College Association of Higher Education (BCAHE) union.

Bellevue College has a small and vibrant Art Department that offers a range of courses in Sculpture, Painting, Printmaking, Drawing, Photography, and Ceramics.
Essential Functions
Teach two sections of Drawing 1 on main campus in Spring 2023.
Manage the Drawing Studio used by instructors' classes.
Minimum Qualifications
Master of Fine Arts in Drawing, Painting, or Interdisciplinary areas.
Must be a practicing artist.
Demonstrated proficiency in observational and figurative drawing.
Knowledge of contemporary drawing practices and contemporary artists, in particular artists from marginalized communities.
Ability to incorporate a diverse range of artists into their curriculums.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience teaching at the college level (special consideration will be given to applicants who have worked with pre-college students).
