Arabic Language Education For Everyone (ALEFE, Inc.), is an educational 501c3 aimed at providing innovative Arabic bilingual programs that utilize arts, media production, storytelling and other unconventional mediums to serve a growing population of native and non-native students alike.

Program description:

ALEFE will offer a year-round (Spring – Summer and Fall 2023) STARTALK Arabic program to 6-11th graders titled “Arab World Podcast”. By the end of the program, participants will be expected to move from an “intermediate-low” level in Arabic to an “intermediate-med” level and will acquire a larger cultural awareness of the Arab World.

Job summary:

ALEFE Inc. is looking for 1 energetic Arabic teacher for its STARTALK program in Arden-Arcade, CA. STARTALK, ACTFL and podcast creation training (provided free of charge by ALEFE) are mandatory prior to working with students.

Job duties:

● Developing class curriculum, lesson plans, materials and assessment tools using guidelines of ACTFL standards under supervision of ALEFE lead instructor

● Implementing curriculum and lessons plans following STARTALK guidelines

● Participating at staff development activities and staff meetings as required or assigned

● Assessing students’ level prior, during and after the STARTALK program

● Delivering an engaging learning experience to a group of heritage and non-heritage students

● Assessing students learning progress using recommended guidelines provided by lead instructor

● Maintaining an inviting classroom environment prior and during the program’s hours

Qualifications:

● BA in Education, World languages, Child development, Literature or related field. Student candidates will be considered on a one-on-one basis.

● At least 2 years of work experience in the US with K-12 school students

● Fluency in spoken and written Arabic and English

● Classroom management skills; Communication; Time management; Instruction Skills; Creativity

● Must have access to a car
