Application Systems Analyst

Info Gain Consulting seeks an Application Systems Analyst to support the Medical Research and Development Command (MRDC) at Fort Detrick, MD. The MRDC is the Defense Health Agency's (DHA) medical material developer responsible for medical research, development, and acquisition. The Command manages an extensive extramural research program with numerous contracts, grants, and cooperative research and development agreements to provide additional science and technology capabilities from leading academic, private industry, and other government organizations.

Duties

The individual fulfilling this role shall utilize their hard and soft skills to develop an understanding of the customers overall goal, vision, and objectives. Leveraging this knowledge and experience to support day-to-day tasks and activities. Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Gather requirements, analyze different solutions and recommend solutions to system problems, implements new systems, develop interfaces with existing systems, and design site-unique software.
  • Analyze and evaluate existing or proposed systems and design complex computer systems to process data.
  • Creates, modifies, and tests code, forms, and scripts that allow computer applications to run.
  • Works on developing applications from specifications drawn up by software developers or others.
  • Writes, analyzes, reviews, and rewrites programs using workflow charts and diagrams, applying knowledge of computer capabilities, subject matter, and symbolic logic.
  • Conducts trial runs of programs and software applications to ensure they produce the desired information and that the instructions are correct.
  • Performs or directs existing programs' revisions, repairs, or expansion to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements.
  • Define systems objectives and prepare system design specifications to meet requirements.
  • Perform quality assurance review of specifications for internal and external delivery.
  • Analyze detailed systems factors, including input and output requirements, information flow, hardware and software requirements, and reliability characteristics.
  • Develop analytical tools for use in the design and redesign of systems.
  • Coordinate with clients to define problems, determine data availability, report requirements, and resolve system design problems.
  • Provide guidance and work leadership to less-experienced analysts and may have supervisory responsibilities.
  • Analyze user requirements and ascertain adequacy and completeness of data information. Based on needs and general description of type reports to be produced, develops flow charts, system specifications, and system applications.
  • Evaluate and recommend existing system changes to improve accuracy, refine processing requirements, and increase efficiency.

Requirements:

  • CompTIA Security+
  • Experience writing, updating, and maintaining computer programs or software packages to handle specific jobs such as tracking inventory, storing or retrieving data, or controlling other equipment.
  • Experience consulting with managerial, engineering, and technical personnel to clarify program intent, identify problems, and suggest changes.
  • Experience performing systems analysis and programming tasks to maintain and control computer systems software as a systems programmer.

Preferred Qaulifications:

  • DOD 8570 IAT certification

Education:

  • Bachelor's (or equivalent) with 5 - 7 yrs. of experience
  • Master's and 3 to 5 yrs. of experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40,000.00 - $200,000.00 per year
