Position Summary

MEPPI's Critical Power Solutions Division (CPSD) is looking to hire an Applications Engineering Manager to lead and direct the activities of the application/sales engineering team. In this role, we are looking for an experienced leader who is detailed oriented to keep a high pace schedule and help mentor and grow their team.

Essential Functions
  • Lead the Application Engineering section to execute CPSD's sales strategies and manage to the sales plan.
  • Lead and direct the Application Engineering staff according to Company policies and procedures to achieve division and department objectives. Develop employees by training, cross-training and providing continuing education opportunities. Conduct performance reviews and provide input for salary decisions.
  • Oversee verification of inside sales and customer facing documentation for accuracy, consistency with sales and business strategies, limits of authority approvals, and compliance with MEPPI's policies and procedures.
  • Develop and track metrics for proposals, shop submittals, deliverables, projected vs actual costs, and margin.
  • Oversee customer order from intake to delivery including transitions to appropriate CPSD divisions.
  • Prepare and maintain internal sales data, reports and metrics utilizing the CRM system for analysis of project sales in collaboration with the National Sales Manager.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain section to support accurate inventory levels, provide product forecasting, establish peripheral and finished goods pricing, and assist with Make versus Buy business strategy.
  • Lead the Application Engineering section in supporting the Service group with the development of price estimates for service projects and transitioning of projects to the Service group prior to system startup.
  • Develop level III department procedures (SOPs) and work instructions for Application Engineering section and manage to the procedures and work instructions.
  • Lead the Application Engineering section in providing technical support to other CPSD departments with field service communications, business meetings, presentations, trade and vendor shows, and negotiations as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Business with a minimum 7 years of experience in technical sales and 3 years of management experience, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of UPS and/or other power quality related products.
  • Advanced knowledge of commercial negotiation and technical sales skills.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and material.
  • Advanced skills in developing and leading teams.
  • Advanced interpersonal, communication and presentation skills required to communicate with employees, vendors and customers.
  • Advanced computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Office products, CRM systems, CAD software and product development software.
