Overview:
We have an immediate opportunity for an Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Aircraft Mechanic II at Tyndall AFB, FL. A&P Mechanic will be responsible to perform maintenance and repair of the USAF E-9 Aircraft in accordance with FAA regulations, airworthiness directives and company policies. The successful candidate for this position will have an A&P License and specific experience with the USAF E-9A, de Havilland DASH 8 or similar relative aircraft experience.
Responsibilities:
  • The A&P Aircraft Mechanic II will require additional skills and work experience on a non-standard airplane models belonging to the United States Air Force (USAF). The USAF E-9a (DeHavilland Airplane, Model: DHC8-315 “Dash 8”). Specific duties will include but are not limited to:
  • Perform all aviation maintenance in accordance with FAA regulations, airworthiness directives, USAF policies and procedures and company policies.
  • Responsible for the completion of all aircraft flight/maintenance logbook recording, internal company forms, work orders, and maintenance releases.
  • Inspect, test, repair, maintain, and service E-9A aircraft in accordance with all applicable governance.
  • Read and interpret maintenance manuals, technical specifications, engineering drawings and USAF Technical Orders to determine repair methodology of malfunctioning or damaged components.
  • Modify aircraft structures, systems, or components, following drawings, engineering orders and technical publications and USAF Technical Orders as applicable.
  • Disassemble and inspect parts for wear, warping, or other defects. Examine and inspect engine or other components for cracks, breaks, or leaks. Test engine and system operations, using testing equipment to detect and diagnose malfunctions
  • Assemble and install electrical, plumbing, mechanical, hydraulic, and structural components and accessories, using hand tools and power tools.
  • Adjust, align, and calibrate aircraft systems, using hand tools, gauges, and test equipment
  • Service and maintain aircraft systems by performing tasks, such as flushing crankcase, cleaning screens, greasing moving parts, and checking brakes.
  • Research FAA technical data to locate applicable data relevant to assigned tasks.
  • Keeps tools and support equipment in a safe and operational condition at all times.
  • Responsible for his/her assigned work area, shop or ramp, to ensure that it is kept clean and free of hazards.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education/Certificates:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current FAA approved A&P license
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record
Security Clearance:
  • Must be able to pass a government background check in order to obtain a DoD Civilian and Contractor (CAC) Identification Card for entry onto various military bases and for access to certain military computer systems.
Experience:
  • Three (3) years of experience as an Aviation A&P Mechanic is required
  • 6 of 24 months of recent experience as an Aviation A&P Mechanic is required
  • Commercial Aircraft experience is required
  • Must be able to document maintenance performed on required forms
Skills:
  • Must be motivated to learn new software systems
  • Knowledge of design techniques, principles, tools and instruments involved in the production and use of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models
