Agronomy Salesperson - GROWMARK FS LLC - Albion, NY

PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT

Promotes and sells Agronomy products and services, and provides crop management recommendations and advice. Develops and implements marketing and sales programs to maximize customer satisfaction and location profitability.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Compiles lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads, based on information from GFS sales history, government offices, Agronomy consultants and other sources.

Conducts sales calls with current and prospective customers in assigned territory.

Develops and maintains relationships with customers at the location or by phone using sales skills and field marketing approach to achieve total program sales.

Communicates sound agronomic practices, delivery or application information, special conditions and requirements, and product pricing to customers and other key personnel as deemed appropriate or required.

Quotes prices and credit terms and prepares sales contracts for orders obtained.

Prepares reports of business transactions and keeps expense reports current and accurate.

Conducts regular grower sales promotion meetings on Agronomy products/services and related technical and label information.

Conducts product and sales training of location personnel as required or requested.

Collects and maintains records on all competition in sales territory.

Provides customer service using soil testing, crop scouting and other programs.

Displays FS field signs on customers’ fields to promote GFS products and services.

Responsible for providing the proper documentation to Agronomy Center Manager, Regional Agronomist, Region Manager and GFS Claims Coordinator on all claims and complaints. Assists with complaints and/or claims resolution.

Promotes the use of GFS Credit programs as a selling tool and helps provide the required information to establish credit.

Works with credit department in management and collection of accounts receivable. Keeps Management and Credit personnel informed of any changes or challenges that may impact customers’ credit status.

Participates in Applicator school and training procedures. Completes all PPE training and certification.

Collaborates with GFS and Region Agronomist to enhance knowledge and image.

Assists management in providing operational leadership and facility operation functions.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

Supports and contributes to total company goals and objectives through collaboration efforts.

Follows GROWMARK’s Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply.

Performs all other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

Normally requires a Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, business, or other related field or the equivalent thereof, and 1-2 years or more of related work experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience to demonstrate knowledge of problem solving, analyzation, and mathematical ability.

Previous experience in sales to demonstrate selling skills, adeptness and product profiency.

Demonstrated organization, planning, and problem-solving skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize work, and deal with deadlines.

Demonstrates essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development.

Prefer an understanding of GROWMARK FS agronomic product lines.

Must have or obtain Commercial Pesticide Certification and maintain valid certification.
Must have or obtain CCA Certification and maintain valid certification.
Must have and maintain valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
Ability to travel independently and overnight.
Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on GROWMARK’s policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.
