JOB SUMMARY

As Agronomy Program Manager you will work directly with Strategic Development and POET Grain. Your primary responsibility will be to orchestrate an effort each planting, growing and harvest season, leading custom harvesters to plant, collect, and deliver high-quality, renewable, biomass feedstock to fuel Project Freedom at POET Bioprocessing’s Emmetsburg, IA location. Additional responsibilities will include the development of external relationships, contractual execution within the supply chain, optimization and development of biomass collection, storage, and transport methods. As Agronomy Program Manager, you will also work with Marketing, Communications, POET Grain, and POET Research to support and develop sustainable agricultural practices associated with biomass collection.

DURING A TYPICAL DAY

  • Conduct biomass inventory forecast
  • Lead communication with 3rd party supply chain contractors
  • Support test plot execution and management
  • Perform planting and harvest season logistics planning that aligns with corporate objectives
  • Consistently analyze, optimize, troubleshoot, and remove roadblocks
  • Improve biomass supply chain methods

STRENGTHS OF A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE

  • Bachelor’s degree in agricultural services, agricultural business, agricultural science, agricultural systems, or engineering and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 2-year degree within an agricultural and/or business-related curriculum is preferred
  • 3 or more years of agricultural experience with a demonstrated record of success
  • You have engineering, farming, agronomy, and agricultural machine-related knowledge and/or experience
  • You are passionate about improving farming practices to better the earth’s climate
  • You can work and execute initiatives with little oversight
  • You can lead groups of custom harvesters to deliver for POET
  • You know the basic Microsoft Office Suite and are capable of learning new programs
  • You can build complicated spreadsheets and models of logistics
  • You can build timelines and work plans
  • You like meeting and helping people and are patient and determined
  • You can orchestrate a large and efficient effort
  • You desire to develop efficient and innovative ways to collect biomass
  • You are comfortable communicating with people with varying backgrounds
  • You communicate clearly and effectively both in written and verbal
  • You can make and deliver presentations effectively to varying audience
  • You strive to understand the “big picture” but can organize and execute details
  • You are a learner, not afraid of taking on new tasks and stretching yourself
  • Effectively manage the team by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training team members. Leadership responsibilities also include delegating, coaching, managing performance, and career development to effectively execute departmental strategies and support company objectives.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
