Under the direction of the Bariatric Surgery Medical Director, Office Manager and Program Nurse Manager, works in a collaborative role to provide a comprehensive plan of care and management for patients. He/she utilizes the nursing process, integrating medical protocols, orders and consultation, to provide comprehensive health care. Patient population ranges from young adulthood through late adulthood.

Meets all standards of the Patient Satisfaction Initiative Criteria in order to make AMH the hospital of choice for patients and employees.

Performs physical exams and prioritizes health measures. Assesses patient health needs, provides appropriate treatment and preventive health measures. Efficiently triages patients and appropriately consults with the collaborating supervising physician when necessary.

Orders, interprets and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient's clinical problems and healthcare needs. Appropriately orders and evaluates laboratory tests to identify and assess patient's clinical and health care needs.

Records physical findings and formulates plan and prognosis based on patient's condition to maintain complete and accurate medical record. Appropriately orders other diagnostic studies.

Discusses patient care with physician and other healthcare professionals to prepare comprehensive plan of care. Appropriately records physical exam findings and formulates a diagnosis based on the patient’s condition to maintain a complete and accurate medical record. Co-directs the ongoing multidisciplinary teams to ensure that the patients’ needs are met.

Develops and implements, educational programs to meet patient and staff learning needs and to provide follow-up for quality assessment and performance improvement needs of the Institute for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. Serves as liaison site representative and coordinator for the program interfacing with hospital, clinical practices and attendings.

Performs procedures for which the Nurse Practitioner has attained the necessary training, proficiency and privileges.

Assists in the formulation of policies, procedures protocols, standards of care and performance improvement to ensure efficient operations at the highest level of care. Assists in various programs educational sessions to include; information sessions, support group and committee meetings.

Qualifications

Master’s Degree

National Board Certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

BLS certification
