Advanced Practice Provider Nurse Practitioner

Outpatient Mental Health Clinic

Full time. Includes one evening shift.

Mercy Hospital’s Outpatient Behavioral Healthcare Service in Garden City, NY is an Integrated Licensed OMH Clinic with Mental Health, Chemical Dependency, Primary Medical Care, Partial Hospital Program and Intensive Outpatient Services. Staff includes a robust team of psychiatric prescribers, licensed masters prepared clinicians, RNs and Internists.

Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner provides expert clinical care to patients. Follows Collaborative Practice Agreement and Medical Staff credentialing. Adheres to Mercy Hospital/department policies and procedures and JCAHO/regulatory agency requirements. Demonstrates and promotes service excellence at all times. Conform to rules, time frames of regulatory bodies and medical staff by-laws.



Responsibilities Include:

  • Assess and document patient history and mental status.
  • Order necessary diagnostic tests, review and oversee care.
  • Complies with standards for safe and accurate patient care and complete documentation
  • Responds to feedback in a positive manner
  • Clearly understands projects/assignment parameters
  • Shows initiative in overcoming obstacles to meet objective
  • Demonstrates flexibility in changing work demands
  • Able to handle conflict
  • Takes ownership in patient care to ensure high quality results/outcomes
  • Participates in educational programs, in-service meetings, workshops, conferences and committees. Keeps abreast of current literature and professional trends

Qualifications:


Education: Master’s degree from an accredited school/program
Experience/skills: Experience in the treatment of the mentally ill and/or chemically dependent adult population.

Licensure: Licensed and currently registered as a professional nurse practitioner in New York State: BLS certification, NYS Prescription privileges, active DEA registration. Suboxone waiver preferred.
