Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
This position is located at the Universities at Shady Grove ( USG ) in Rockville, MD
  • Provides direct administrative support to Universities at Shady Grove (USG’s) Chief Diversity Officer.
  • Acts as point person for communication of university policies/procedures; providing a high level of customer service, public relations as liaison.
  • Establishes and coordinates meetings; prepares agendas and collects/creates materials for meetings; organizes highly confidential calendars/files. Responsible for scheduling appointments.
  • Maintains logs of staff summary activities to constantly track and monitor document flow. Maintains and monitors reporting; monitor web pages. Handles various management and statistical reports requiring a high degree of judgment, responsibility, and confidentiality.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Education:
High School Diploma or GED.

Experience:
3 years experience providing administrative support.

Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • General knowledge of and skill in the practical application of generally accepted office practices and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effective both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to proofread and edit written documents.
  • Skill in various computer software packages, such as word processing, spreadsheets, database, and presentation programs, Internet, email and calendaring software.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to interact effectively with internal and external parties in a courteous and efficient manner.
  • Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and execute multiple and continuing assignments with general instructions.

Preferences:
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :
  • Some college preferred.
  • Experience in higher education.
  • Work experience in environments that model, embrace, and incorporate diverse thoughts and perspectives, in an all-inclusive atmosphere.
  • Bilingual preferred but not required.
