THE POSITION

The Department of Community Corrections is now seeking a talented individual to join our team as an Administrative Assistant. In this role, you will provide a wide range of duties that will require confidentiality, problem solving, and multi-tasking skills. Acting as the primary administrative support for the Community Corrections Director and Senior Management, you will be tasked with:


  • Maintaining the Director's calendar
  • Providing administrative support for the Oregon Association of Community Corrections Directors
  • Coordinating meetings, assisting in meeting setup, taking notes, and transcribing minutes and summaries
  • Acting as backup for team members performing cash handling duties
  • Researching and responding to requests for information and complaints from officials, customers, and the public
  • Reviewing and editing department agenda items for the County Board of Commissioners
  • Preparing travel and training requests; making travel and other arrangements for business lunches and conferences, and compiling expense reports
  • Establishing department administrative practices, procedures, and processes
Our Ideal Candidate will be a highly independent self-starter with a track record for process improvement. They will have experience working in a fast-paced and quickly changing administrative environment and be able to effectively multitask and prioritize competing duties. In addition, they will have experience providing top notch administrative support, tracking, research, organization, and problem solving. Although not needed to be successful in this role, knowledge of public safety systems (CJIS, LEDs, etc.) would be helpful.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:


  • Graduation from high school or possession of a G.E.D. equivalent; AND
  • Five (5) or more years of progressively responsible administrative experience related to office management or a major administrative function for a department or division.
  • Possession of an Associate degree or Professional Certification in business administration, public administration, or related field may substitute for two (2) years of required work experience.
Additional department specific requirements:
  • Must pass a comprehensive background investigation.
  • Ability to become LEDs (Law Enforcement Data Systems) certified.
  • Ability to become notary certified.

This is a non-represented position and is not covered by a collective bargaining agreement.

Regular and limited duration full-time employees working 30 hours or more per week and job share employees are eligible for benefits beginning on the first of the month following employment. Job share employees are responsible for 50% of the premium. Part-time regular, variable hour, and temporary positions are not eligible for medical, dental, and vision benefits.
