DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Graduation from high school, including or supplemented by courses in typing, word processing and business practices.
  • Above average knowledge of language skills, particularly in areas of spelling, punctuation and proper English usage.
  • Two years of experience in secretarial or equivalent type work.
  • Ability to type 60 words per minute.
  • Proficiency and experience in different software programs including Microsoft Office Suite as well as data entry and data management skills.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, highly demanding environment.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to set up and maintain an efficient and effective filing system, including digital filing.
  • Ability to maintain complex clerical records and prepare reports from such records.
  • Ability to function effectively with minimal direct supervision and make minor office decisions in accordance with established policies and regulations.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and to work tactfully, patiently, cooperatively and effectively in daily interactions with staff, parents, general public and service clientele.
  • Broad knowledge of office procedures and office machines.
  • Flexibility and willingness to adapt to varied responsibilities.
  • Work history and reputation of being habitually supportive of peers, general public and service clientele; of habitually maintaining outward composure; of being a positive force in the work place, and of working effectively and efficiently with supervision.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach high and low, lift and carry 40 pounds.
  • Must pass criminal background check as required by the School Safety Legislation.

RESPONSIBILITIES SHALL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:


  • Promptly and courteously handle inquiries and visitors who have business to conduct in the department.
  • Operate two-way radio system.
  • Prepare and distribute materials as required.
  • Receive incoming calls, direct them as appropriate and provide assistance as required.
  • Maintain student and other school records and files. Maintain staff calendars and schedules.
  • Maintain fuel report; distribute related reports.
  • Input individual vehicle maintenance reports
  • Invoice local school districts for services.
  • Cross train with other department secretarial staff.
  • Performing such other functions and duties as may be necessary and related to the above and as determined by future course of events.
  • Perform such other functions and duties as deemed necessary by administrator.

WORK YEAR: Year round position; from 4:30 a.m . - 12:30 p.m.
