DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Graduation from high school, including or supplemented by courses in computer typing, word processing, and business practices.
  • Above average knowledge of language skills, particularly in the areas of spelling, punctuation, and English usage and grammar.
  • Two years of experience in administrative assistant or equivalent type work.
  • Proficiency with Outlook, Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, Access, PowerSchool Special Ed, AS400 and other applications including data entry and data management skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain an efficient and effective filing system.
  • Ability to file and maintain complex clerical records and prepare reports, newsletters, flyers as needed.
  • Ability to function effectively with minimal direct supervision and make minor office decisions in accordance with established policies and regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and to work tactfully, patiently, cooperatively, and effectively in daily interactions with staff, parents, children and agency personnel.
  • Possess a mature work attitude along with other personal qualities of loyalty, integrity, pride, and enthusiasm.
  • Flexibility and willingness to adapt to varied responsibilities and work site locations.
  • Present a neat and professional dress and appearance.
  • Work history and reputation of being habitually: supportive of peers, general public, and service clientele; maintaining outward composure; being a positive force in the workplace; and working effectively and efficiently with supervision.
  • Must pass criminal background check as required by School Safety Legislation.

RESPONSIBILITIES SHALL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:


  • Provide support to the Special Education Department.
  • Provide clerical assistance to consultants and/or assistance to other staff in the department.
  • Coordinating workshop registrations, including ordering materials, applying for SCECHs, etc.
  • Make necessary preparations, as directed, for approved scheduled meetings.
  • Promptly and courteously handle inquiries and visitors who have business to conduct at the MISD.
  • Set up and maintain appointments, reservations, and calendars in approved fashion.
  • Prepare non-artwork reproduction materials and arrange for reproduction of materials needed.
  • Handle appropriately mass mailing responsibilities.
  • May be required to assist in the monitoring of grants and projects.
  • Perform such other functions and duties required of the department administrators.

SALARY FOR CURRENT EMPLOYEES: Per AFSCME Administrative Support Bargaining Agreement


WORK YEAR: This is a year-round position


STARTING DATE: As soon as possible


WORK LOCATION: MISD Educational Service Center
