The Office Coordinator provides program support and front-line customer service for the School of Communication academic advising office; responds to inquiries from prospective and current undergraduate and graduate students; identifies, responds to, and resolves student issues; responds to student, staff and faculty inquiries and requests and resolves issues or makes appropriate referrals; assists students with registration issues, holds and other issues; adds and drops classes for current students; coordinates advising schedules and assists students with scheduling advising appointments; reschedules appointments when advisors are unavailable; coordinates advising office new student orientation schedule; coordinates and maintains advising office use of OnCourse online student appointment scheduling system; creates and sends monthly job/internship newsletter to undergraduate students; recruits, interviews, trains, and supervises student employees; extracts, analyzes and maintains student data; provides general advising office support; provides administrative and customer service support to School of Communication; manages and processes purchase requests for School of Communication annual events including Comm Day, Grad Visit Day, Undergraduate Scholarship Ceremony, and Welcome Picnic; manages, maintains database, distributes and collects keys for School of Communication faculty, staff and graduate students in Derby Hall and Journalism Building; gathers material and maintains photo and directory display boards of faculty, staff and graduate students; assists with asset management and inventory and enters items into surplus system; entering purchase requests and processing travel; manages and processes graduate student travel and purchase requests; manages and processes advising office purchase requests; annually updates school databases and website materials; serves as backup to School of Communication main office, including providing office coverage.

Minimum Required Qualifications

High School diploma or GED. 1 year of relevant experience required.

Additional Desired Qualifications

2 years of relevant experience preferred.


The pay range for this job profile is $17.74 - $23.63. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.

Ohio State Wexner Medical Center, College of Medicine or OSUP Employees are not eligible for personal exemptions. All exemptions are subject to Ohio State’s approval and subject to change, including revocation, due to legal and regulatory requirements.
