    Charles M. Sumner Learning Campus is located in beautiful Sullivan, Maine. Our amazing brand new campus is located approximately 15 minutes east of Ellsworth, the county seat of Hancock County, and 40 miles east from Bangor. In addition, we are just a short drive to Bar Harbor and the beautiful Acadia National Park. Charles M. Sumner Learning Campus is home to both Sumner Middle School and Sumner Memorial High School. Our total student population is approximately 480 students in grades 6 through 12.

    We are seeking a full-time administrative assistant, who will work directly with our administrative team in the main office, as well as support the rest of our Tiger team. This position will begin on/or shortly after July 1, 2023 and offers some unique opportunities such as cellphone reimbursement and flexible summer hours. In addition to a great sense of humor, we are looking for someone who has the ability to meet the requirements below:

    Essential Functions

    • Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment.
    • Assist visitors in the office, including students, teachers, and others.
    • Answer telephone calls, and provide information and assistance to callers.
    • Monitor school surveillance cameras and control access to our building.
    • Respond to inquiries from students, faculty, and staff, providing information, facilitating communication among parties and/or providing direction.
    • Welcome new students and families into our building and assist them, as needed.
    • Assist school administration with attendance reporting.
    • Assist in maintaining documents, files and records for the purpose of providing up-to-date reference and audit trail for compliance.
    • Prepare purchase orders for the purpose of submitting to the school district's accounting/finance office.
    • Assist in maintaining and ordering inventories of supplies and materials for the purpose of ensuring items' availability.
    • Distribute incoming mail appropriately; send outgoing mail.
    • Evaluate situations for the purpose of taking appropriate action and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.
    • Prepares, copies and distributes notices, memoranda or other correspondence for community, students, and staff.

    Additional Duties

    • Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning.

    Equipment

    • Uses standard office equipment such as personal computer, multi-line telephone, copy/scan machine, fax machine.

    Travel Requirements

    • Limited travel to and from meetings, the Post Office, etc... may be required. Mileage is reimbursed at the approved district rate.

    • Ability to understand, apply and use personal computers and software applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Quickbooks, the Internet, Outlook, electronic mail).

    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, and perform arithmetic operations.

    FLSA Status: Non-exempt

    A current MDOE Criminal History Records Check is required. Pay is based upon experience and level of education.
