JOB SUMMARY

Eagle Transport is looking for an experienced Accounts Receivable Manager to join our finance team. The Accounts Receivable (“AR”) Manager oversees customer invoicing, manages the collection processes, and prepares periodic management reports including targeted KPIs. The AR Manager contributes to Eagle’s success by driving the complete order to cash cycle and discovering ways to consistently improve current processes and cash flow. The AR Manager actively manages the entire process of collecting and posting of payments; working collaboratively with the billing team, collections specialist, and cash application specialist to resolve day-to-day payment/invoicing issues and working with our customers to maintain current and accurate account balances. Ultimately, the candidate must be able to ensure accuracy and efficiency throughout Eagle’s entire accounts receivable process.

Position reports to the Manager, Customer Service & Billing

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Work cross-functionally to manage order-to-cash cycle processes, continually enhance operational efficiencies and accuracy, and promote excellence in customer service and support.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the AR team, providing ongoing training and coaching.
  • Review of customer contracts, rate addendums, and fee schedules to ensure associated revenues are properly recognized, and customers adhere to mutually agreed-upon terms.
  • Implement collection policies, procedures, and systems; educate employees and management on new and/or updated policies and procedures.
  • Active engagement in all aspects of periodic AR functions and coordinating team efforts to ensure timely and accurate invoicing, payment collections, and remittance postings.
  • Research and resolve billing inquiries, freight rate discrepancies, and/or other billing and traffic-related requests; review data for deficiencies or errors.
  • Prepare and analyze remittance files for posting; maintain active remittance file procedures and train others to assist in the timely posting of remittance files.
  • Analyze accounts receivable aging reports to identify and resolve past due accounts; provide timely reporting and assessments of accounts receivable aging.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts monthly to support month-end close.
  • Exercise professional judgment and positive communication with customers regarding billing issues and resolving past-due accounts.
  • Works cross-functionally with Billing, Pricing, Sales, Operations, and our customers to onboard new customers/locations and establish accurate billing/invoicing practices on day 1.
  • Collaborate with others on special projects and audits.
  • Ad hoc projects and other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, or related field required.
  • 3 + years of accounts receivable experience required.
  • 2-3 years of supervisory/management experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of current finance and accounting practices in the accounts receivable field; experience working with complex accounts receivable.
  • Intermediate/advanced MS Excel skills required; proficiency with MS Office.
  • IBM iSeries/AS400 and/or other ERP and transportation management systems experience required.
