Aston Carter is working with a transportation company that is seeking an Accounting Supervisor to join their team! The Accounting Supervisor will be overseeing the Cash Application team. 3+ years of accounting experience and 1+ year of experience as a lead or manager is required to be considered for this role.

Job Description:

Personnel Management Responsibilities:

  • Trains, supervises, monitors activities and provides direction to designated accounting positions.
  • Conducts interviews with potential candidates and makes hiring decisions for accounting staff.
  • Communicates regularly with the Accounting Manager and Controller regarding performance level of direct reports. Makes recommendations for corrective action, up to and including termination, as necessary.
  • Provides ongoing feedback to direct reports regarding their personal performance, both positive and constructive.
  • Takes disciplinary action as necessary to correct performance issues inconsistent with policies, procedures or the direction of the department.
  • Determines and recommends when it is necessary to terminate direct report employees for performance issues.
  • Performs annual reviews with direct reports and offers positive reinforcement as well as constructive feedback.
  • Ensures ongoing development of staff to stay up-to-date in the business enabling them to elevate performance levels.
  • Tracks and reports attendance information for direct reports ensuring accurate attendance related information is reported to Human Resources on a timely basis.
  • Integrates the company’s noble purpose and core values into every aspect of the position and communicates with team on a regular basis on the company’s core values, mission, vision and noble purpose.
  • Reinforces the behaviors of employees demonstrating core values and giving recognition to employees who endorse the core values of the company.
  • Incorporates core values and noble purpose as part of performance management process and coaches and supports employees on how to demonstrate core values.
  • Attends required management training seminars or related courses that focus on enhancing personal leadership skills and improving team development.

Management Responsibilities:

  • Provides direction to designated accounting positions regarding processes and procedures.
  • Maintains a thorough understanding of the job duties of each supervised position.
  • Ensures supervised employees are performing their work in accordance with SOP’s.
  • Researches and reports on Cash App Associates errors.
  • Reports on Cash App Associates daily cash posting time.

General Responsibilities:

  • Supervises the cash receipts, buy processing and credit check functions.
  • Reviews the setup of new bank/EFS account information.
  • Processes advancing for wires and ACHs on a daily basis.
  • Sets up manual wires at the bank for approval.
  • Reviews refunds for accuracy.
  • Processes and/or voids advances and quick pay money codes.
  • Daily tie out of all advances.
  • Daily tie out of all USD Hold payments and cards.
  • Opens tickets through Profit Star, as needed.
  • Sets up templates for ACHs and wires on UMB portal.
  • Ensures SOP’s are in place and current for cash receipts, credit checks and buy processing.
  • Provides backup for the cash receipts, credit checks and buy processing functions.
  • Performs due diligence review of all new clients for the company, including the setup of vendor codes.
  • Works with all company personnel to ensure accuracy in client accounts.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Reviews and approves weekly invoices.
  • Approves ACH payments on bank portal.
  • Full back up to Accounting Manager if necessary.
  • Full back up to the A/R Cash Application Research Specialist.
  • Back up for wire/ACH approvals

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting preferred
  • 3+ years accounting experience
  • 1+ year of experience in a lead or manager role
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
