Summary of Functions


The Accounting Specialist performs a variety of general accounting support tasks in an accounting department. This person verifies the accuracy of invoices and other accounting documents/records. They update and maintain accounting journals, ledgers, and other records detailing financial business transactions. This position enters data into computer system using defined computer programs. They compile data and prepare a variety of reports. This individual processes payroll and reconciles records with internal company employees and management, as well as external vendors/customers. This person may also recommend actions to resolve discrepancies.


Principle Responsibilities


  • Provide accounting and clerical support to the accounting department.

  • Process accounts and incoming payments in compliance with financial policies and procedures.

  • Perform day to day financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, computing, posting, and recording accounts receivables’ data.

  • Prepare bills, invoices, and bank deposits.

  • Reconcile the accounts receivable ledger to ensure that all payments are accounted for and properly posted.

  • Type accurately, prepare and maintain accounting documents and records.

  • Prepare bank deposits, general ledger postings, and statements.

  • Enter key data of financial transactions in the database daily.

  • Research, track and restore accounting or documentation problems and discrepancies.

  • Generate financial statements and reports detailing accounts receivable status.

  • Inform management and compile reports/summaries on activity areas.

  • Constantly update job knowledge.



Qualifications


  • Associate degree concentration in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration preferred.

  • 2+ years of in account receivable experience.

  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles, fair credit practices. and collection regulations.

  • The high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Good organizational and strong interpersonal skills.

  • Hands-on experience in operating spreadsheets and Quickbook software.

  • Proficient, quick, and comfortable with personal computer navigation and operation including Microsoft Office software.

  • Excellent data entry skills.

  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.

  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines.

  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.



Physical Requirements


Work is considered low physical work in an office and production setting, requiring lifting 5- 10 pounds occasionally. Must possess strength, stamina, and mobility to perform low physical work indoors with minimum exposure to dust.

Must be able to:

  • Walk, sit, lift, reach, stoop, stand, grasp, balance, climb, kneel, and crouch.

  • Regularly spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and compute.

  • Demonstrate the ability to hear and have specific vision abilities to adjust focus.

  • Perform all work safely in a fast-paced work environment.

  • The office is adjacent to the manufacturing plant facing noise and interactions with other staffs.
