The Accounting Manager is responsible for all areas relating to the accounting for the Diocese of Corpus Christi and five related non-profit corporations. This position will be responsible for maintaining accounting principles, practices and internal control procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. The Accounting Manager oversees the accountants and is responsible for managing the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including the preparation of necessary work needed to complete the annual independent audits. The Accounting Manager will have contact with the Chief Financial Officer and other which requires strong interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

· Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year-end close.

· Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly financial information.

· Work with the CFO to ensure a clean and timely year-end audit.

· Prepares quarterly sales tax deposit and Endowment Fund statements to Investors.

· Prepares and distributes monthly Accounts Receivable and Deposit and Loan Statements to parishes and schools.

· Assists in preparation of the daily deposit and reviews the accuracy of daily cash receipts posted.

· Oversees treasury function as it relates to the operating bank accounts, investment accounts, credit card processing, and purchasing cards.

· Work with the CFO in the daily banking requirements.

· Work with parishes and schools in addressing their accounting and banking needs.

· Works with Accounts Payable to ensure accurate and timely processing of payments.

· Oversees Staff Accountants to enhance the workflow of the department.

· Handle Personnel issues relating to staff conflicts, absenteeism, performance issues, etc.

· Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

· Work with each direct report to establish goals and objectives for each year and monitor and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff.

· Respond to inquiries from the Chief Financial Officer and other department managers regarding financial results and special reporting requests.

· Support CFO with special projects and workflow process improvements.

· Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word
  • Ten key by touch.
  • Must have extensive experience with computerized accounting system.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, supervisory and customer service skills required.
  • Ability to handle and defuse difficult situations.
  • Strong organization, multitasking and prioritizing skills to meet deadlines.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience with duties and responsibilities in a non-profit Accounting Department.
  • A minimum of 3 years in a supervisory role

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $58,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
