Position Description

Southern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services (SNAMHS) currently has an Accounting Assistant II position available. This position will support the Business Office located at 3811 W Charleston Blvd., Ste 104, Las Vegas, NV 89102. Accounting Assistants perform clerical accounting work in the maintenance of accounts and accounting records for State agencies. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficienFSS2=t to perform work independently with little or no additional training.


Duties and responsibilities include: processing client trust checks, receiving and verifying agency checks, making bank deposits, receiving invoices from vendors, processing vouchers in the accounts payable department, processing purchase orders and fleet services reports, utilizing Excel software to enter data, maintaining files and records, maintaining professional and cooperative interactions with public, agency staff and private agencies, and participating in special projects as needed or required by supervisor. This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. The incumbent may perform other related duties as required to meet the ongoing needs of the departments served. This is a full-time position working Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm. Incumbents will be working an innovative variable schedule with overtime after 40 hours per week.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of clerical accounting experience which must have included duties such as coding documents to distribute funds; preparing accounts payable and accounts receivable documents and balancing accounts; and using computer spreadsheets to record, track organize and report data; OR one year of experience as an Accounting Assistant I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
