Position Summary
Works under general supervision to perform advanced professional accounting, auditing and other fiscal duties.

Pay Grade: 53
Salary Commensurate with Experience and Education Minimum Qualifications
100.00% - 1. Five (5) years of experience in the use of accounting principles, techniques, and theories; and

2. Bachelor"s degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, finance, public or business administration; OR

3. An equivalent combination of related experience and/or experience.

4. CPA may substitute for two (2) years of experience.

5. Experience using accounting principles, techniques, and theories, in a public agency preferred.
6. PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED. Duties and Responsibilities
1. Prepares annual budget, analysis for trends, projections and variances.

2. Analyzes and monitors expenditures and revenues.

3. Oversees computerized accounting systems, accounting data entry for monthly and annual closings and review of financial statements.

4. Reconciles transactions to in-house accounting records and initiate necessary corrections.

5. Manages Accounts Receivable to include checks and cash deposits and petty cash.

6. Supervises Accounting support staff.

7. Oversees the processing of payroll for all Juvenile Court departments

8. Prepares accounting reports for all Department Administrators, advises on budget issues and prepares fiscal transactions i.e. (budget transfers, journal entries).

9. Prepares monthly grant invoices and reconcile year-end grant report for the TN Department of Human Services for Child Support Expenditures and Department of Children"s Services.

10. Performs audits for various departments; and assists grant monitors and independent auditors.

11. Performs other related duties as assigned or directed. KSA's
KSAs - 1. Thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, practices and auditing procedures.
2. Knowledge of the rules, regulations and contract requirements governing the agency"s financial record-keeping operations and skills in applying them.
3. Ability to use Microsoft Excel, Access and Word. and ability to learn the County"s computerized systems.
4. Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written and deal tactfully with the public and co-workers.
5. Ability to supervise and coordinate support personnel.
6. Ability to organize and monitor multiple projects giving periodic assessments as needed or requested.
7. Ability to analyze financial information, provide an assessment or interpretation of the information and recommend actions based on the analysis. Disclaimer
