Position Summary: The Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) Consultant professionally represents the company to grow the customer base within an assigned territory. The AAC consultant is responsible for supporting people who use or could benefit from the company’s solutions, their family, caregivers, and team (e.g., speech-language pathologists, educators, professionals). Support is achieved through a combination of virtual and in-person interactions across a variety of settings including schools, hospitals, clinics, universities, homes, and conferences. The AAC Consultant upholds the company’s values, mission, method and manner, and strives to enhance customer and company success. This position has a flexible schedule that works to meet the needs of the clients.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Engages in regular outreach activities to develop relationships with new customers and promote the company’s products and services.
  • Builds and maintains relationships and regular communication with existing customers to support their needs and uncover new opportunities.
  • Drives new opportunities into the pipeline using defined daily behaviors and activities to achieve revenue goals within an assigned territory.
  • Supports the team throughout the process of acquiring a communication device by:
    • Providing evaluation consultations to help the team consider our AAC solutions in the context of the client’s needs.
    • Guiding the team through trialing a device.
    • Educating the team about funding requirements and working with the team throughout the funding process.
    • Training the team on use and implementation of the device and the company’s services.
  • Provides education and demonstration related to our products, unique vocabularies, services, and implementation through a variety of small and large group meetings and presentations.
  • Implements consultative solution-based sales approach for territory development.
  • Manages trial and loan equipment throughout the territory.
  • Maintains knowledge of the company’s product and services, AAC trends, and best practices with sales and territory management.
  • Attends and manages participation at conferences and networking activities within the territory.
  • Manages territory expenses within expectations.
  • Maintains professional visibility throughout the territory.
  • Attends and participates in company, department, and team meetings.
  • Follows the company’s policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to connect with people and build relationships.
  • Ability to identify the needs of people who could benefit from AAC and their teams.
  • Desire and ability to learn new products, services, processes, and strategies.
  • Excellent time management skills (e.g., organization, prioritization, goal setting).
  • Ability to synthesize and present information to others in a variety of formats (e.g., in-person, online, small and large groups).

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Education, Special Education, Occupational Therapy, or related field is required.
  • Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Special Education, Occupational Therapy, or related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years working in the field of AAC or Assistive Technology is required. Experience with the company’s AAC solutions is preferred.
  • Knowledge of AAC principles and solutions is required.
  • Experience participating in AAC evaluations is preferred
